Instructions for Florida Therapists taking license renewal day classes (on August 31, 2013)

Have you waited until the very last day to take your classes?

Okay, okay, we’ll avoid the lecture on the fact that you have two entire years to earn 24 CE’s and renew your license, so why are you waiting until the very last day to do it?  Don’t sweat it. You are definitely not alone.

Here is the problem. You must take your class(es) before you can earn your credits which, in this instance, means you are finishing up your credits on the same day your license renews. We will be reporting your credits to CE Broker on the same day that you take the classes, however, CE Broker’s database is not guaranteed to update to the State of Florida’s site until that night, which means that your license renewal can be rejected.

Here is the solution.  Before you go to the State of Florida’s website, FIRST go to this page on the CE Broker website and open either a trial account or a basic account (no credit card info needed for the basic account but options are more limited) and self report your CE’s. THEN go to the State of Florida’s website and renew your license.

Sound confusing? Well, it is a little bit, so here are some step-by-step instructions to walk you through the renewal process for students taking classes on the last day before renewal.

How to Self Report to CE Broker

  • First you must complete your CE classes. At LMT Success Group, our instructions will be sure to immediately report your credits to CE Broker. You must make sure that your instructor has your correct MA# and that you receive your CE Certificate of Attendance Form from your teacher at the end of the class.
  • Be aware that this site might be busy. If there is a delay in your page loading, be a little patient.
  • Follow this link to sign up for the free Basic Account option to so you will quickly be able to self-report to CE Broker.

  •  And of course since this is a self reporting, you will have to prove that you have taken this class. You will need to either scan the CE Completion Certification (hint: you take a picture of the document with your smart phone or a camera and upload it to your computer) and attach it to your reporting or you can let CE Broker know that you will fax the document later.  You will be prompted to print out a special cover sheet to fax with your documents so be near a printer.  Select continue to complete the process. (You teacher will provide you with your CE Certificate at the end of the class. Make sure you have received it.)

Take a long slow deep breath. Please be aware that this whole step of self-reporting to CE Broker is not something that you would typically have to do. In fact, only the licensees taking renewal day classes on have to go through this extra step. This has to do with the manner in which CE Broker’s server updates and is totally out of our control. Now, back to work.

You still must renew with the State of Florida.

If it makes you feel any better, all licensees renew following this same process with the state. This procedure has already been spelled out in a step-by-step process in a previous blog post. Please follow this LINK and scroll toward the bottom of that page for specific details on how to renew your license with the State of Florida.  (If you are renewing your license on August 31, be prepared to go through the renewal process on the Florida site without delay. Gather all of your information including practice address and have your credit card ready before you begin. Be careful not to get locked out of the system.)

Good luck! Oh, and maybe next year, think about taking one of our anti-stress education vacations that take place way before renewal.
